Most Gay Games sporting competitions as well as Festival Village admission are free to spectators. The following events require a separate admission ticket for spectators. (Note: Participants can march and sit with their fellow participants at Opening and Closing ceremonies by using their credential. They do NOT need to purchase tickets to Opening and/or Closing ceremonies. However, participants who plan to watch Bodybuilding, Rodeo, Figure Skating, Dancesport or Pink Flamingo pool show need to purchase a spectator ticket.)

Flash Seats Explanation

While the participants gather at Progressive Field, spectators can take their seat for the 7 p.m. kickoff of Gay Games 9. Expect to be energized and entertained by the moving and inspirational program. Entertainment will feature spectacular production numbers with celebrity guest artists, dancers, cheerleaders, the 2014 Gay Games community chorus and team marching band. Plus the formal welcome speeches, the raising of the Rainbow Flag and the administration of the pledge taken by all participants will get these Games started in style.

Flash Seats Explanation 

The Games will cap the week's festivities at Closing Ceremony on Mall C (home to Festival Village earlier in week). With spectacular views of Cleveland's lakefront, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, Great Lakes Science Center on the north side, and the city's skyline to the south. Participants will gather on Mall C and be cheered on by local cheer teams. The ceremony will include the transfer of the flag to the host of the 2018 Gay Games, Paris, France. It will have the entertainment on its own stage plus hands-on artistic activities produced by local artists and organizations, and the Gay Games quilt on display. Attendees can enjoy refreshing beverages in the beer garden and nosh on great food that highlights the world-class cuisine found in Cleveland+Akron.

Fireworks and the extinguishing of the 2014 Gay Games cauldron flame will signal the official end of the Week but expect the after party to keep things going long into the night.

The judges rate symmetry, muscularity and presentation (free posing). In addition to the individual competitions, the bodybuilding event will have pairs competitions, both mixed and same-sex pairs, an event unique to the Gay Games.

The dance competitions include International Style, American Style, Country Western Style and Open Style, with separate categories for men and women. Each competition will have grade levels so that participants will compete against others of their own skill level. The event culminates in a Grand Ball that will showcase the grace and elegance of the sport.

When the swim teams wrap up the competition, they’re dipping into the pool to entertain. Think of it as a drag show in water where the only rules are no sequins, no feathers and no nudity.
